Question
Are bad credit loans scams? My family is over 10k in debt and we have retained a lawyer to proceed with a chapter 7 bankrupcty but I've just discovered this whole bad credit loan thing and it seems to be the answer to saving our credit. I just have this nagging feeling that something isnt right...Can anyone advise me on the topic? Is it better to just file bankruptcy? Are bad credit loans scams? If you could reccomend someone it would be helpful to! Thanks in advance!

Any loan that requires any upfront payment is a scam. You pay, and never get your loan. Surely you can't afford that. But think about it - if your family can't pay back the debt it has now, how could taking on another loan help? That just digs a deeper hole to climb out of.

Not sure what you are talking about: if its the credit counseling thing, you have to be careful who you use, they will set up a schedule of payment to them and they are suppose to pay the others with what you give them but some have not made the payments and kept the money. Check with the Better Business Bureau about any company for complaints.

Definitely scams. Credit Solutions took thousands of dollars from me and never helped. They said you pay a small amount per month and they use it to pay your debts, stop the calls, etc. Well, the calls didn't stop, I had to change my number. They never paid ANYTHING to my debtors. I'm still in debt and nothing changed. Now I am being sued by Capital One, (they also said it'd stop me from getting sued or wage garnish), and have tons of debt. They just took my money and did nothing to help me.

Online there are scams and there are legit lenders, as in real life. Online scammers can be spotted immediately. They are NEVER Verisign approved and they are NEVER BBB approved. in other words, when on a site and not sure about it, look for a Verisign or BBB logo. If found, click on them. If they lead to the Verisign and BBB sites and on those sites there is an entry about the site you are worried about, then they are legit. If there is no working logo back to those or any other reputable Business Bureau sites then walk away. See http://www.esuperfind.com/lowermybills.php, check out the links to the logos, familiarize yourself with them.
