Question
How do I refinance my home with less than good credit? If I were able to refinance I would get a lower interest rate thus lowering my monthly bill allowing me to pay on time without getting backed up.

If you have an FHA loan, you can do an FHA streamline refinance with no credit or income check.

Typically the lower your credit score then the higher the rate is that you receive. I would look to see if you are eligible for a mortgage modification, or like the other poster said see if you can go fha. If the home value is there you should use it to pay off the debt that is dragging down your score.

If you have not been more than 30 days late on your mortgage you may qualify for the government refinance program. The program is called Home Affordable Refinance Program. This article spells out what to do to figure out if you qualify. It was designed to help people that are in unaffordable mortgages by helping them refinance when they otherwise could not get refinancing. You can get out of an adjustable rate mortgage and into a fixed rate, for example. See if you qualify. If so, it may make it easier to refinance than you otherwise would expect.

Some refinances can be done with bad credit still. Usually these are through the FHA. The best way to find out whether you can refinance or not is by going over your credit report with a loan officer or professional mortgage consultant.
