i am looking for a web site that has good info on how to repair bad credit..any suggestions?
i considered "eliminate bad credit for good on line sites" to my understanding they're scams...bankrupcy sounds like the last option and i'm not that bad in debt..less than 5000...i'm hesitant in contacting creditors and the "bureaus"..i'm not trying to put the cart before the horse but, if my credit score is let's say...544...how long ,realistically, would it take to have a decent credit score provided that i pay my debts???any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How to repair bad credit? How to do yourself?
I have bad credit. I am 23 y/o. When I was 18 y/o I was on a phone plan and it got put forward to a debt collection agency. I paid it off. But I have an outstanding electricity bill with synergy and it's under $500 but it got put forward to credit agency and I know this because I called them and they told me. But apart from that it can't be from anything else except my phone plan which I have paid off. If I have paid it off in installments which I have can it still give me bad credit? Or can you only get bad credit if you have an amount owing? And is it true if I ring the company / companies and pay the owing amount that I can get it taken off my credit? Please someone help me. I just want good credit. Also I am in Australia if that helps.

Fastest way to repair bad credit?
I used to always be happy with one thing and that was my credit score. It wasn't the greatest but it was good enough to know I could easily get a loan if need. I went to go refinance and was told with my score their wasn't anything they could do....Wha-wha-WHAT! I was always like a 710-760 now I am a 602..OUCH! He said I had a collection that went to long (never even knew) and I was 60 days late on another. Well I have only myself to blame and that's not the point. The point is how do I repair the damage now? And how long will it take? DEAD link Mikey!

How exactly could i repair bad credit which i didn't make but can't dispute?
I’m on active duty and I came home after my 15 month tour in Iraq thinking everything was just as I left them. I did not have a credit card nor did I have debts when I left. I met a girl and after a year of dating we decided to settle down. My fiancée then suggested that it would be nice to start building our credit so I applied for a credit card which got denied because of my extremely low credit score. When we checked my credit report, I have 4 derogatory accounts which were definitely not mine. I called home and found out that my dad used my name and social security number while I was away and failed to pay off debts. So I can’t dispute these accounts for fear that my dad would get in trouble. I tried to repair my credit before the wedding without knowing what to do. So I called Allied Interstate (one of the CA) and they told me to pay off the account for a lower amount. So I did and got a receipt for it. Now that account says: Legally paid in full for less than the full balance and Election of remedy - reported by subscriber. Obviously, this didn’t help my credit score. I am still in the lower 500s. Now that we’re married, I tried sending a goodwill letter to Allied Interstate and a PFD letter to the two other CA. These are letters we got off the net. But the 15 business day grace period is about to be over and there has still been no reply to any of these letters . The last derogatory account is from Weise Properties and it does not have a dollar value on it. I’m really sorry for this extremely long post but I feel really lost and I don’t know where to start. My wife has no credit yet and I just wanted to fix everything for her before I get deployed again. She’s having a tough time adjusting to a new country as it is. What should we do? Thank you very much for your help.

How long after repairing bad credit could you be eligible for a new loan for school/training?
I have atrocious credit. 2 defaults, various revolving accounts, and numerous collections that have made their way onto the report. I also don't have a co-sign. For the better part of the last 3 years I had recurring, misdiagnosed conditions that prevented me from working steady. I want to fly helicopters, but the cost of school is so that it would be faster to pay off debt and get a loan to complete training (leg > commercial pilot), than it would be to save money and pay out of pocket. It's also maybe the right thing to do. I know items stay on the report for ~7 years, but, even with bad history, if you don't actually owe anyone anymore I would have a better chance I would assume. Even if it's not helicopters, I need to finish school. I have 70 hours and lack 8hours for an associates in aviation science (air traffic control), but I haven't been able to get a job in the field. So instead of "finishing" school I should say I need to go back and get some other type of training. one or two classes? where did you study? At Thomas edison state 8 hours is 8 classes, roughly $1100 just to register. I did know about the fafsa already, I couldn't submit it because of tax information and vet status problems. Working to fix it.

How to build or repair credit score?
I'm 19 and sort of have bad credit already b/c when I tried to get an apartment for college I was rejected so instead had to get one in my parents' name. Sometimes I would pay payments early, but other times I would just totally forget about it and not pay and then I be charged interest..this has been going off and on. So, I have a few questions.. -In order to build my credit score, is it possible to just withdraw less than 30% or so from my credit line from the ATM then when it gets near the payment due date I can just pay off that entire withdrawal amount then repeat? -How long does it take to repair bad credit?....like years? Would I have to pay off credit card payments consistently for many years in order to repair my credit rating? -What's the fastest and most efficient way to repair/build credit?...And how long would it take?...Would cutting my credit card up right now and just stop using it until I graduate from college and get a job repair and/or build my credit? THanks!

Repairing bad credit, consolidating loans?
Try to make this a long story short... My fiance and I are looking to buy a new house. I have great credit, he makes the money. The problem is, he cosigned on a car for his ex, who has defaulted on the loan, and he also has a few credit cards that he himself defaulted on when he was alot younger. He wants to get all this squared away, so we can repair his credit, and hopefully buy our dream home to begin our lives together. My question is, where do we begin? We've gotten his 3 credit reports, and scores, and know what he has out there. He has a few credit cards that are relatively low balances ($100-600), that have already been charged off, should we go ahead and pay on those? Is there anyway he could get a loan for these, with his credit being so low? I assure you making the payments at this point in his life are not a problem, we just don't know where to begin. I should mention that the care his ex defaulted on has NOT been repossessed, we are working with the agency to try to make good on this, and trying to get the vehicle back from his ex. Also all the accounts he's had in the past 4 or so years are current, or paid off, short of this car loan.

Secured credit cards... How long will it take to see credit improvement?
If you are using a secured credit card to repair bad credit how long does it take to see an improvement on your credit report? How much improvent do you see? These banks/cards requie you to have a savings account with them equal to your credit limit. If you have collection accounts or JUDEMENTS can a collection agency freeze these accounts and take them?

repairing bad credit?
I have had some credit problems in the past and have been workin VERY hard to get things straight. I have been paying all of my bills on time for at least the last 3 years. My credit has not improved. Also, my student loans just came out of defferment and I had moved so I was unaware that they were due. Now they have been reported late on my credit report. I have caught up with the loans. I would like to refinance my home in about a year. What more can I do to improve my credit and how bad will the recent negative affect me?

Repairing bad credit.?
My credit sucks, in college I had 3 cards and after I got laid off my job I had to live off of them and couldn't afford to keep up my payments on time. They all went into collections, once I got working again I paid them two of them completely, I still have one left BUT I canceled all of them, apparently that wasn't the smartest thing to do, or so I was told. I still make payments on my last card on time and I pay double the minimum payment. But since its canceled once I pay it off I can't use the card again. HOWEVER through my job I have another credit card that I earn money through commission, it's one of those cards where you always get approved but at the least $50. So I use this card here and there and make payments on time. My question is: I noticed there's other places who can do loans but they charge high interest. With my new job I can afford to make BIG payments. I want to build my credit to an above average rating. But since NO credit card place will approve me, would it be bad to go with one of those high interest loan companies? I can make very hefty monthly payments. I know these places are bad if you are already struggling with bills,I am perfectly fine financially, but my credit still sucks. Once again I want to build credit faster, I know time will fix it, but I don't want to have bad credit for the next three years, any words of advice?

Ho do you do a credit report audit?
While researching various credit repair companies, some claim to do a credit report audit as part of their service. I have also read that I credit report audit can be one of the most powerful ways to repair bad credit. I think I have a basic understanding of what a credit report audit is, but I am not sure exactly how I would go about doing one myself. Can anyone explain how to do a credit report audit (including any laws that it would fall under), or even better be able to point me to resources that would explain credit report audits? I don't think I was clear. I do not plan to hire a credit repair company. I am also fairly certain I know how to dispute an item on my credit report with the credit bureau. What I am asking about is how to do a credit report audit. My understanding is that for a credit report audit, in addtion to disputing with the credit bureaus, you require the creditor to directly verify validity of the existance of a debt by requiring the creditor to submit certain documents. I understand this is particularly successful for collections and charge-offs. However, I do not know how to go about doing this. What law or laws (if any) does it fall under? How should the letter be written and what should be asked of the creditor? What documentation should the creditor be asked to supply? I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows the answer to these questions or knows of any good sources that has answers.
