Are reverse mortgages really a good deal?
Due to financial changes in my life I am considering whether or not a reverse mortgage is all that the banks say they are or just another money-making banking scheme.

Anybody know any draw backs with reverse mortgages?
Reverse mortgage is drawing from the equity in your home and not having to pay it back until you move or die. It is only for older folks.

Are there any alternatives to Reverse Mortgages?
My gram is 63 and is paying her mortgage every month but doesn't have much else left over. She owes $179,000 on a house worth $210,000 in this market. Is there any alternative to a reverse mortgage where she wouldn't have to make a monthly payment? She is getting sick and afraid she might have to cut back her hours at work. Any help would be appreciated! :)

for those of you who've don the homework on reverse mortgages, could you enlighten me?
i know reverse mortgages work for some people, depending on their age, the equity theyve built up, and the balance of the property....
im interested in finding the bottom line, downside or reasons to steer clear....

In 2003 what did FHA Reverse Mortgages pay in interest on unused available cash?
In 03 the economy came back like gangbusters. Did money that seniors had in reverse mortgage equity reserves also benefit from rapidly rising rates? Did those rates go up and by how much? Or did they even go down?

Are reverse mortgages worth it?
Hi all, my mom is wanting to get out of debt, she is considering a reverse mortgage and wants only 30 grand out of the reverse mortgage to pay off bills, she is planning on putting 600 dollars a month into a savings account, and when she either sells or has to go into a nursing home, the money she has saved would pay off the reverse mortgage, and us children would get the home, it is 100% paid for.....is this a good option for getting rid of credit card debt, or would a home equity loan be better---thanks

What do you think of reverse mortgage for people 62 and older?
I'm a loan officer doing reverse mortgages for the elderly in the state of CA. The largest one to date I have done was 2.6 million. I have found this program to help so many people that are 62 or older. True this will eat up equity in there home but its there home and there equity. This is the part that kills me. Why do “some” the children of the elderly feel like this is there money and think that there parents must suffer and live a hard life with less.

Is there a reverse mortgage available for people less than 62 years old?
I am a US homeowner. Instead of refinancing, I wanted to explore the possibility of a reverse mortgage.All I have seen so far is that this is only good for homeowners aged 62 or more. Is there a company that provides reverse mortgages for those younger than 62?
