Question
Am looking to apply for secured loan - would like to go direct to lender as opposed to brokers -? Does anyone know who are actual lenders? My credit history is good - wife's not so good - turned down by mortgage company for additonal borrowing (think we asked for too much - now just want to borrow enough to clear debts - no home improvement plans!)

what exactly are you trying to do...... looks like consolidate some credit cards and what not onto your mortgage. is there enough equity in your house to borrow the amount your looking for? if there is you should not have a problem getting this done if your credit is fine and you are the breadwinner. if you want to talk more shoot me a message. as you say you'd like to go directly to lender as opposed to a broker, one thing you'll want to remember that us as brokers we take a look at the scenario and know exactly where we can send the loan, if we can send it anywhere at all. where as if you go to a direct lender you may end up shopping around 10 banks before you find a home for your loan. and also the broker is going to know where your going to be able to get the best rate at and can most often times offer a better rate than if you went to a direct lender.

Do both and compare. Try your bank and the other major banks. DO NOT put your house as security unless you do not mind sleeping in the streets.
