Are there any good student loans out there for someone with bad credit?
I am returning to school in the fall but am short a good amount of money. I need a loan to pay for the rest of the first year, but I have really bad credit due to poor judgment from a couple of years ago. Does anyone know of any places, programs, or banks that gives student loans to people with bad credit? Any help would be great!

How much can I take out in student loans?
I'm currently working on my Bachelor's of Science degree, and I'm just under halfway there. Unfortunately, my parents have both passed away, so I rely entirely on grants and student loans to foot my tuition bill and living expenses. I also work part time, but it's not enough to cover living expenses alone while going to school. My expected annual income after graduation is in the 38-40K range. I've already taken out over 10K in loans, and like I said, I still have probably another 3 years at a major university to go. How much can I take out in student loans and still be able to pay it all back?

How many times can you consolidation Private student loans?
Does anybody know how many times you can consolidate private student loans? Right now I have approx $26K in student loans consolidated with Sallie Mae at about 10% interest rate. I would like to get a better one, but have already consolidated. If I can only do it once, do loan companies actually lower the rate based on credit and payment history?

Can I claim the interest paid on student loans if not enrolled?
I'm filing this years income tax return and I'm confused on the student loan interest. Can I claim the interest if I wasn't enrolled last year? I graduated a few years ago but I still pay student loans and interest. The guidelines for claiming are sort of confusing so I wasn't sure if I can claim. It will add a few hundred to my return if I can claim. did I have to attend school in 2007 to take this? or just pay interest on loans?

What are the best ways to get student loans with a decent interest rate?
I have been in community college for the first 2 years of my schooling so I have not had to take out any student loans yet. I have been applying for loans for this next semester and I have been getting really high interest rates. Some are over 15% which I feel is riduculous. I am 21 years old with good credit and I have used my parents as co-borrowers when applying. They do not have great credit and my dad makes too much money for me to get any government help, but they don't pay for anything. Where should I go for lower interest rate on loans? Also, what is a good amount to take out if I decide not to work next semester? Thanks! My parents are married so any information I use goes for both parents.

My student loans are in default and I only get $320 a month to take care of my family. We are homeless, have bad credit, and up against a wall. Please don't leave any generic answers. I am looking for a way to improve the situation. I am looking for work, but have been unsuccessful. Help if you can. Thanks.

Is interest paid on student loans tax deductible?
I have about $120K in student loans right now that I am paying off. I paid about $7500 in interest in 2006 on those loans. My loan provider sends me a form stating this for tax purposes. Is it tax deductible?

In my Student Loan accounts it says that I will be able to use a reportable tax interest form 1098E. Does that mean I can use my loan repayments as a tax credit or deductible? By the way, My loans are currently on Forbearance.

What is the best way to pay off student loans more quickly?
I have about $60,000 in student loans. I am now only paying interest right now because I had to defer them in the past. I have heard that if you pay ahead it just counts towards future payments, but I would really like to pay them off early and try to pay less interest.

What is a good company to consolidate private student loans with?
I would like to consolidate my private student loans but don't want to be subject to the pitfalls of those attractive offers like "Consolidate now and get a check fo $1000.00." I read the fine print of all the mail offers I receive but I don't trust any of them enough to persue them. I have about 40k to consolidate and will be returning to school in January to add a few more thousand. Has anyone already consolidated and had a good experience? I would be moving from Sallie Mae as my servicer. Please note, these are for private loans, not federal. Thanks in advance! I would prefer not to consolidate with Sallie Mae. I had a rather awful experience with them recently and partly look to reconsolidate so that they are no longer my loan servicer .

What are your thoughts on student loans vs. working so that you can pay as you go through college?
I am meeting more and more young people who are getting both their undergraduate degrees and Master's degrees by taking out student loans. They graduate with lots of debt. Is this the usual thing now-a-days? Do you think it is possible to work and "pay as you go"? To those of you who are researching loan info: I'm not looking for financing for school. I am asking for your opinion/experience regarding working your way through school vs. taking out loans and ending up with debt.

Do many schools pay off student loans if you become a teacher there?
I live in Florida and was told by a friend that if I decide to become a teacher that most schools will offer "student loan forgiveness" therefore pay off the student loans. Is this true?

Could the repayment of Federal Student loans cause your child support amount to reduce?
If you have to pay back federal student loans, can you get a child support modification. For those of you who think I am trying to avoid child support, that is not true. Since both are federal mandate payments(meaning you can not file bankruptcy to get rid of them, than it should be included into the guideline). Also getting educated not only benefits myself, but the child too. Because if I am able to get a better paying job, it will help increase the child standard of living too.

How do I pay defaulted student loans to save my credit?
I am a single mother of three, so even a good income has to be very well budgeted. I have roughly $100,000 in defaulted student loans, so most consolidation and other programs are out of the question for me. I have been asked to pay more than I can afford monthly for these loans. What can I do to both get these paid and save my credit?

Please no sarcastic answers my nephew asked me and I had no clue. Any information is welcomed. Thank you!
