This would fix your interest rate and lower you rmonthly payments. However, the payments are lower because the term is extended on the loans, so you actually will end up paying a lot more in the long run. If this is a short term situation and you know that you will be having a higher income in the future, stick with what you have now. However, if you are working in a field where the income will not get any higher, then you will want to go ahead and consolidate with Direct Loans.
